Fatigue, Low Energy

There may be many times that you are tired and complain of low energy. But usually a nap, good night's sleep or even a vacation will take care of the problem. Fatigue is a whole different ballgame. If the fatigue has only been around for a short period of time there are many things you can do. But chronic fatigue is more difficult to treat. If you have experienced a loss of energy that lasts for several weeks or longer, you need to seek professional advice. If you try my suggestions and none of them work you need to call your doctor or alternative medicine practitioner.
**There is no magic cure for fatigue.
Possible causes of fatigue:
1) Adrenal medulla LOW—not producing adrnalin (fatigue, endurance low, strength and energy low)
2) Estrogen HIGH is antagonistic to progesterone LOW (fatigue)
3) Females (before period) progesterone LOW
4) Males—testosterone LOW (fatigue and depression)
5) Parathyroid HIGH is antagonistic to thyroid LOW
6) Chronic Fatigue Syndrome—Epstein Barr virus will show up in our saliva test
If you are under 40 and are experiencing low energy or fatigue on a regular basis, the first thing you should do is check your diet and your stress levels. My son was working 40 hours a week and going to college full time while eating a very high sugar diet. It was easy to see where his problem was. When he filled out the Health Chek 2000 for me, his stress level was over 75 which is the danger zone. (Click the button on the side bar for more information about the Health Chek 2000 and the information it provides.)
I personally do all of the things I have written about below, including the stress remedy. (Except for #12). I recommend them highly. Try one or several, until you find the combination that works for you and your life style.
1) Check what you are eating for breakfast. If you aren't eating breakfast, well that's part of the problem. How can you expect to have energy if you aren't putting fuel into your body? If you are eating breakfast, check what you are eating. There must be protein to start the day. Coffee and a doughnut have no real nutritional value. Eat an egg, rice with butter (2 incomplete proteins make one complete), cheese and crackers, or even peanut butter. You'll notice a difference almost immediately.

2) Next check your stress levels. Are you working long hours at work, taking care of a household while working, or do you have two jobs? Are you caring for several children at home? Are you going to school while holding down a job? Look for ways to destress your life. Stress can kill. Click here for more informatin about stress.
(We also make stress remedies. There is information about them on the side bar. Just click on the Prices button and then on the acute remedy link.)
3) Herbs may offer some relief. Ginseng is an herb that gives an energy boost. It is a stimulant and needs to be taken carefully. If your adrenals are too weak, a stimulant can actually work against you.
4) Avoid Caffeine as much as possible. Coffee, sodas, even some teas have too much caffeine and can actually make you more tired. Green tea is milder and very good for your health. It has antioxidant features. Add a little honey and you have a delicious treat!
5) Are you taking a good multi-vitamin? The B vitamins are known as the stress vitamins. Read the label. Studies have proven that many vitamins are not absorbed in the body and are a waste of money. Find one that is wrapped in seaweed or other vegetable matter. The absorbtion rate is between 80-90%. Also consider taking it at night. This also helps your body absorb better.
6) There are some quick and easy to do hand movements in Jin Shin Jyutsu that help increase energy. Hold your left thumb in your right hand. To do this make a fist with your right hand and then just stick the left thumb inside. You should be able to feel the beat of the thumb pulse. Hold this for 30 minutes each day, while you watch tv or relax.
7) Acupuncture is a wonderfully relaxing but energizing for of alternative medicine. You are so totally relaxed after the treatment, but energized the next day. Click here for more informatin about acupuncture.
8) Here is an affirmation for fatigue. "I am enthusiastic about life. I love what I do. I am filled with energy and enthusiasm."
9) Click here for a list of scriptures to be used for as daily affirmations for healing.
10) This is also another Jin Shin Jyutsu to feel better all over your body. Take your right hand and place it underneath your left arm pit and then put your left arm down. Your right thumb should be sticking out and pointed toward your neck. Do the same (but reverse order) with your left hand and your right arm pit. Your arms are crossed over your breast. Also do this for at least 30 minutes at night. If you only have time for one of these movements, choose this one over #6.
11) This movement comes from reflexology. Cup both hands then place the fingernails of one hand against the fingernails of the other hand. Buff them together, going faster and faster. Do this for about 30 seconds then stop for a few seconds and you can feel the tingling in your fingers. Continue for a few minutes. (This supposedly also helps promote hair growth). You can also shake your hands vigorously below the wrist for about a minute. I do the fingernail buff early in the morning and again during the day when I start to feel sluggish. It really works!
12) Aromatherapy may also offer some relief. (I haven't tried this personally.) Place a drop each of rosemary and basil essential oils on a tissue and inhale as needed. I have also read that peppermint may help.
