Feng Shui (pronounced "fung shway") originated in China over 3,000-5,000 years ago. It is a way of achieving harmony between the environment and hummans.
The word Feng Shui means “wind and water”. The art of Feng Shui is a method that strives to achieve the best flow of Chi by the strategic placement of objects and furniture. It is the ancient Chinese study of nature’s continuous changes It teaches how our surroundings affect our energy and our spirit. We must learn to live with nature and not against it. In simple terms, Feng Shui is the art of mindfulness.
According to quantum physics, everything is made of energy, including our bodies. It stands to reason that the energy flow around us in profound ways. When done correctly, feng shui can improve our health, wealth, succes, love and happiness.
The placement and arrangement of space is important in Feng Shui. The color of specific spaces, furniture placement, bamboo flutes and wind chimes all place a part in the energy flow in our home, offices, and any area where we spend a lot of time.
When we consciously organize and decorate space using Feng Shui principles our environment acts like a magnet to attract our highest intention. While doing this we automatically creates a more supportive and nurturing home environment. The energy flow is smoother and more peaceful.
Many people feel you must hire a Feng Shui professional to decorate your home. That probably would be best. But if you live in a community that doesn't have a Feng Shui professional, there are many things you can do yourself. The best and easiest to understand book that I have found is Feng Shui: Harmony by Design by Nancy SantoPietro. According to this book there are nine main Feng Sui Principles. They are:
1. Satisfy the four conditions.
2. Explore the predecessor law.
3. Strive for balance.
4. Trust your intuition.
5. Reduce clutter.
6. Like attracts like.
7. Raise the percentages.
8. Use the nine basic cures.
9. House maintenance is crucial.
THE FENG SHUI BAGUA CHART
An important part of Feng Shui is the Bagua Chart. This is a blueprint that when laid over your home or office tells you what each area of your home represents. To view a Bague blueprint, click here. By placing the furniture and objects in their optimal positions, that area of your life will be enhanced. If you are having trouble in a particular area of your life, see where it falls in your home according to the Bagua and clean up that part of your home. You can also add certain articles and specific colors. Then according to Feng Shui, that area of your life will begin to change.
A very important aspect in Feng Shui is a term called "missing corners." A missing corner is a section that is missing from the Ba-gua. If the partnership/marriage gua area of your land, house or bedroom is missing, then a partner may also be missing in your life. Or, you and your partner are experiencing loneliness, separation (sometimes divorce). At the very least there is conflict in your relationship.
