The thyroid is a gland located in the throat, neck area. It is just below the "Adam's Apple". The function of the thyroid gland is to take iodine and convert it into thyroid hormones, thyroxine and triiodothyronine. Every cell in the body depends upon thyroid hormones for the regulation of its metabolism.
There are five main diseases that thyroid malfunctions can create. They are:
Your thyroid can be malfunctioning in two ways. It can be considered high, which means it is producing too much thyroxin. It can also be considered low, which means it is not producing enough. There are links below to both the high and low thyroid questions. Please take both tests. If you receive a high score on both high and low, it could indicate that your thyroid is in serious condition. You must seek professional help if that is the case.
